About Metalier International
Born in New Zealand
Metalier began in Auckland in 2005.
More than 20 years later, we are still developing and refining the liquid metal coating systems that began here in New Zealand and are now used around the world.
Our expertise is in creating a system that combines real metal powders with water-based coating technology, giving skilled applicators remarkable freedom to work with metal in new ways.
Metalier can be applied to curves, complex forms and a wide range of properly prepared substrates, then polished, textured, aged or patinated to create finishes that look and feel like real metal.
Created for possibility
We have never believed liquid metal should mean one fixed look. Metalier was developed to give designers and applicators room to experiment - with colour, texture, polish, patina and surface character.
Our Signature Finishes provide a starting point, but some of the most exciting Metalier surfaces are developed for a particular project.
That flexibility has always been part of the idea.

North Island Metalier Master Applicator
Richard Bone, Director of Elemental Finishes, has more than two decades experience in liquid metal, specialising in the development and creation of distinctive finishes for architectural and design projects.
Richard has worked closely with Metalier International for many years and has also contributed to applicator training and technical support within our international network.
From its Auckland studio and workshop, Elemental Finishes works with architects, designers, manufacturers and clients throughout the North Island, developing samples and finishes specifically for each project.
Remarkable Surfaces
South Island Metalier Master Applicator
Based in Christchurch, Remarkable Surfaces is a specialist decorative surface business led by Suzanne McInnes
Suzanne and her team have worked with Metalier International for more than 10 years, developing and applying individual liquid metal finishes for residential and commercial projects throughout the South Island.
Their work combines technical application skill with a strong understanding of colour, texture and patina, allowing finishes to be developed in response to the design rather than selected from a fixed palette.
