Unique metal coating options for original creatives...

Metalier gives designers the ability to make a statement using decorative metal coatings, and to overcome many of the traditional obstacles to realising a decorative metal design concept.

We work with architects, designers, landscape architects, sign-writers, boat builders and film companies to create customised metal finishes that maximise the design options available to you and your clients.

WHERE TO USE IT
Interior fit-outs...

Our metal coatings provide decorative statement options for fit-outs of restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, pubs, retail spaces, offices, private homes, luxury launches, super-yachts, aeroplanes, motor vehicles, and more.

Outdoors...

Our metal coatings enhance front doors, fences, gates, tiles, fountains, garden sculptures, swimming pool surrounds, and more.

Signage...

Our metal coatings provide solutions for sign-writers when other alternatives can be too small (sheet metal), too heavy, too thick or too expensive.

APPLICATION

We apply our metal coatings to a wide range of substrates in a variety of situations and to a wide variety of forms and objects. Our photo gallery of metals and finishes gives examples of just some of our applications and different finishes.

In addition to being an applicator in New Zealand, we also supply our metal coating systems in this country, particularly to film prop companies.

The cost of a Metalier metal finish depends on the size and shape of the object to be coated and the metal finish required. As you would expect, Metalier metal coatings are more expensive than metallic paint (they also keep their good looks for about five times longer) but are much less expensive than sheet or cast or foundry metal and compare favourably with other decorative options available in the marketplace.

Add to this the fact that Metalier metal coatings are hand-crafted and unique. In the words of Auckland designer David Ponting, "This is metal as art".

Most applications in New Zealand will require a 2-3 week lead time. How long the job will take depends on the size of the items to be coated and whether you have chosen a Metalier HP metal finish or a water-based metal finish. The application of Metalier metal coatings is not a quick process. The product must be applied, then cured, then polished or finished.

We are committed to completing your job on time, with "no surprises", and within your budgetary constraints.

BENEFITS

All of the Metalier metal finishes shown on our website, whether smooth or textured, can be done in most of the metals. What we show on the website are only some of the possibilities.

  • Metalier metal coatings are light so they can be used where sheet or cast metal would be too heavy - for example, wall decorations, super yacht fit-outs and aeronautical fit-outs for private jets.
  • Metalier metal coatings are applied in a cold-spray process, which means they can be applied to just about any surface, even heat-sensitive and unexpected surfaces - for example, wood, plastic, fibreglass, latex, cloth, leather and rubber.
  • Metalier's water-based metal coating option uses no solvents so is much more environmentally friendly than the traditional solvent-based metal coatings.
  • Metalier's flexible metal coating option means we can apply our metal coatings to flexible objects and retain the flexible nature of the substrate, e.g. latex, cloth, leather and rubber.
  • The high ratio of metal in Metalier's metal coatings (up to 80%) gives them greater durability, which means the finished product looks great for a significantly longer period of time and does not become dull and tired like regular and metallic paints.

We look forward to working with you.
